Happy Halloween!

Look at that adorable little baby duckling and his big brother the Giraffe! I am a zoo keeper and do you really want to know what Gene is? I'll tell you anyway, he is a sexy cat- "It's the one time of year a guy can dress slutty and not be judged." He was basically making fun of the mentality girls have about Halloween. He got a lot of laughs at the party we went to and the kids got so many, "Awwws" and "SOOO CUTE!" I couldn't keep count. : )

"Maybe if I sit like this too, Dad will blend in better and no one will notice what he's wearing..."

It's a long story, but we told Roman that Giraffes say, "Whaaaah, whaaah." But, sometimes it sounds more like, "Hoo-ah! Hoo-ah!" (DeNiro? Scent of a Woman)

Umm, what on earth is my dad wearing?!?

 Here, Odin, have some poop!

Roman found a piece of fake poop in our Halloween box and once he understood that it was fake, it was game on! He had so much fun going around pretending to eat poop and just loved all the attention he got, "NO! Don't eat that!!!! Ewwww!"

Not-so-lazy Sunday

We had a big, long, fun day last Sunday! We woke up early and drove to the Montgomery Zoo where we fed birds, rode the sky lift, and rode the train. The conductor even let Roman blow the whistle! And, Roman was very brave on the sky lift, he said he didn't even need to hold my hand. Roman said that the trees were very beautiful from up high. And he really enjoyed being taller than the giraffes.

Then, up to the Calera Train museum where they took us on a old steam train out to a pumpkin patch, and there was even a tractor ride!

Mom-tography!

GaGa bought us a new camera for Christmas and I have yet to read the manual- but I'll get to it! Anyway, I took a 3-hour class for beginning photographers (Mom-tography) last weekend and then went to the park to see if I had learned anything. There are SO many to choose from, it's ridiculous! This is the problem when your model is TOO ADORABLE!
Maybe we will see some improvement in my pictures now that I have learned a few helpful hints for getting good shots.

(Click on the first photo and it will bring up a slideshow for easier viewing)

Odin is 6 Months!

We finally took Odin to the doctor. He is a little over 27 inches and just almost 15 lbs. He is a little on the small side but proportionally his body is fine and healthy and his motor development and cognitive tasks are ahead of schedule, so doc was impressed.

He sprouted his first tooth while we were at Disney and it was not too bad. He was a little cranky at times and woke up a little more often at night. We have not started solids but he has had a little tasted of apple in his mesh feeder and he loved it. I was anxiously awaiting this as it helps to keep him happy on longer car rides.

I don't have time to write much, we are on our way to Disney in the morning. Yes, again. My husband has been NINE TIMES. I keep telling myself, once we move, we'll never have to go back! It's just so close and so cheap with the special military tickets that he can't resist. Roman is really excited this time!

Here's a bunch of pics- Roman's spider friend, crawling practice with Odin, Odin on the potty, at the train show (sticking his belly out just like Daddy), and our attempt at some family pictures in the park.

Here's some video from late September- the beginnings of Odin's crawling

This week in pics

We are literally too busy to blog these days because we spend every waking moment watching these boys. Not because they keep us busy; Roman is content to play in his room and Odin is content to be on my back or in his new jumper, sometimes. No, we spend every waking moment watching them and playing with them because we are in awe of them. Odin is just about the cutest, sweetest, funniest little baby you've ever met and watching him and Roman play is just hilarious, and heart-warming, and unbelievably sweet.

Who says Dads can't multitask? Odin is on the potty and DaDa is on the iPad.

My absolute favorite face! He's feeling around for that new tooth that just sprouted!

Roman is feeding the ants corn meal; we didn't tell him what we were trying to accomplish, he just thought they might be hungry.

Roman modifies his firetruck so it can fly and the bulldozer is building tall buidings on a construction site. He asked me to take a picture of "all my neat stuff I am making."

Here is some video of the last few weeks. Odin is suddenly sitting up very well, well enough to have a lot of fun in the bath. He also loves, loves, loves his new bouncy seat! There is video of Roman feeding the ants and some from his birthday- DaDa got him a musical card and when opened it he just started walking around the living room in circles. It was hilarious and a little bizarre.

Riding the Great White Tram

Well, we survived another Disney trip. Gene agreed this was our last, unless he and Roman go alone once more in the spring. Yes, Roman is ready for a weekend trip away from Mommy; he still nurses sometimes at night before bed, but he can basically take it or leave it. I think at this point it's just about making sure he's on equal footing with Odin.

But, it was a nice trip. Roman really got into all the rides and buses and of course...the PARKING TRAM!!!! I don't know what it is, but he adored that thing and it's all he talked about ALL week!

Odin loves to jump, jump, jump!
