20 Months!

Roman had a great time in Seattle with Aunt Lisa, Uncle Jon and Cousin Kittie. He just adored Kittie once he found out she could make incredible sounds come out of the piano. When she would get home from school, he would run to her and sign "please" and drag her towards the piano. Kittie is amazing on the piano but she may be even better at classical guitar. Everything she played was beautiful. Roman was truly inspired. I know all toddlers like music, but I think Roman may REALLY like it. He may have an affinity for it the way his father does. Gene practices guitar when he gets a chance and plans to take up the piano again sometime next year (you know, when he's retired). : ) And I'll teach Roman how to sing really loudly and really badly.

As usual, Roman stayed busy all day cleaning and rearranging things, and every night he took a bath with Auntie Lisa, hooray! At Uncle Jon's birthday party everyone was so impressed how Roman just continuously busied himself and never caused a ruckus. He was just happy exploring the new house and being sociable with the lovely strangers. Pretty impressive I'd say since he is now a full-fledged toddler. He has grown a lot in the last two months and is a BIG talker. He now tries to imitate every thing we say or sign; it's funny to see him play with his fingers trying to get a sign right.

So far the terrible twos are the terrific twos. I hope I don't eat my words in four months when Roman turns two and I say, "I said WHAT?!?" He really is a joy and he thinks he is just SO funny. He says goodbye to his toys and he kisses his own boo-boos. He loves to lounge on Jagger and he gives us hugs and kisses all day long. Now that the last molar is in (for now) he is sleeping great at night with usually only one wake-up/pee around 2:00 am.

He shares toys with his friends and food with Jagger. And he is still very much obsessed with things with motors or wheels. He's even doing well on 2-3 hour car rides (honking with his arm and saying, "aaa-aaannnn" to every semi-truck we pass). We are still loving our daytimes with Daddy and are excited that the pool is warm enough to swim. He is jumping off of the edge with NO hesitation! He's also blowing bubbles, moving his arms and kicking his feet like a pro.

Oh, and lastly, Roman's genius moment: At Lisa's house, Roman was drawing with an ink pen and I "think" he accidentally scribbled something that reminded him of a fire or flame. He stopped drawing, looked up at me, back down at the paper, then back up at me, and said, "hot" while signing "hot". Then he pointed to the fireplace and then pointed to his paper again and said, "hot" again. Now, I would be super impressed if he intentionally drew a fire, but I'm pretty blown away by this alone.
