21 Months

We are so busy each day with swimming and reading and working that I never have any time to take photos, much less edit and publish them. I cannot even begin to accurately describe what life with a toddler is like. It's new every second of every day. We had a great time at the beach last weekend and Roman even made some friends. He just LOVES other big boys and especially girls; insisting that the girls hold his hand and carry him around.

Lately, his words have been becoming a little more clear and he is using more 2-word sentences, but I still rely on the signs to understand what the heck he is saying. His favorite words lately are lawnmower, coconut oil, thirsty, digger, dirty, loud, and your turn/my turn. He must know about 60 different signs by now. We are still attending our signing class once a week which he is always very excited about. He LOVES to sign. He is more likely to try the word out if he knows the sign for it. We have been watching some signing videos that he adores and he always tries to make the signs along with the kids on the video.

He has been taking swimming lessons this week and it has been good and bad. Today, he went with Daddy and basically just cried the whole time, while yesterday he and I had a lot of fun. We're trying not to push since he does SO great at home in the pool. Yesterday, Gene must have tightened his swim trunks a little tight, because Roman grabbed Dadddy's hand and patted it while saying, "Gen-uhl." He likes taking big boy showers now all by himself and he washes himself very well.

He's still asking for his blue-green algae every day (yuck!) and he's still a really good eater: green smoothie in the morning plus some apple, banana, strawberries or blueberries, and fresh fruit throughout the day, then avocado, broccoli (which he calls trees), sweet potato or flax crackers with pesto for dinner. He weighs almost 23 lbs. now and is getting very close to 34 inches.
