Odin's 1st Month

Odin was 10 lbs. when we weighed him at 1 month, so big! He gained nearly a pound per week, although all that's expected is about 4-6 ounces. He is smiling and talking like crazy now and Roman just adores him. He is always helping him by bringing him toys or holding him. If Odin cries, Roman will play "Ocean Sounds" on my iphone and bring it to him, telling him, "Shhh, Odin, it's okay."

He's also sleeping pretty well. Instead of training him to nurse every 2 hours like I did Roman, I am helping him learn to sleep a little longer. I swaddle him and lay him down around 7:00 or 8:00 and hope that he sleeps for 4-6 hours. Sometimes, he makes some noises, but if I wait a few mintues before picking him up, he might fall back asleep. And, sometimes, I can bounce on the exercise ball or rock him back to sleep. I nurse him again around 1:00 or 2:00 am, then I put Daddy in charge until 8:00 am. Daddy can usually calm him pretty easily if he wakes, better than me since the kid smells my milk jugs! So, one waking/feeding per night (11-12 hours) is pretty awesome I think!

Here are some pics from Odin's first month: Farm pictures when Odin was born, pics from our photo shoot with my mom; pretty good for amateurs I think! Also, Roman reading to Odin, Roman in his underwear and Daddy's flip-flops playing outside with his friend Talia, and Gene's Retirement ceremony.
