5 Months
Just today, he learned to go from all fours to sitting, and he is sitting really well; he even catches himself from falling to the side with his arms.
Yesterday, he suddenly started saying, "da da da da da da." Of course, we're not sure he's saying it on purpose, but it kind of seems that way. He's also really getting the hang of his bouncy seat, jumping all over the place like a crazy froggie. The best thing about this month is that he suddenly seems okay with going to sleep. Now, he just rubs his eyes and lays his head down on my chest; no more fighting sleep- which was exhausting at times, but a good workout on the treadmill! We're heading to NJ next week to meet aunts and uncles and I'm betting they are going to get to see some crawling. : )

It's not crawling, but it's something...
The first clip shows Roman's new method of moving forward to get a toy. He works hard to get his legs under him them propels his body forward. Then, some more mirror time, his favorite. : )

Jealous much?
Gracie and Madison love to sleep on Roman's blanket, on Roman's changing table, ON Roman. I didn't want Madison to feel left out, so I put a diaper on her. So far, all three pets are very patient when he tries to pet them. And, they all seem to like the same toys, which can be a problem!

Playdate
Roman will turn 5 months next Thursday and we can't believe it. I never could have imagined how fast it would go. Here are a few clips from this month; he is changing every day now. The first clip is with his playdate buddy, Calan. Calan is about 3-4 weeks older. Sometimes they play really well together, laughing and talking; other times they just look at each other and cry (if they haven't had a nap).
The other clips are from him rolling over, getting up on his knees, etc... It looks as if he will be crawling any day now. Time to babyproof!

Rolling over
Roman started pushing up really high on his arms at the beginning of January and would sometimes roll over, often on accident, but this last week he has been doing it purposefully when he's trying to see something or get to a toy. I'm not sure he knows how to roll from his tummy to his back yet. He just kind of gets stuck and complains when he's been there long enough.
He's also getting up on his knees and starting to rock. I think he knows that he'd like to crawl, but still has no idea how to coordinate his arms and legs. He can scooch forward enough to grab a toy though.
A few weeks ago at breastfeeding support group, the babies were on the floor on their bellies and Roman seemed mesmerized with a red-headed boy named Max; he scooched himself forward by pulling himself with his arms and was able to move over toward him about 2 feet.

Bending over backwards
Roman's newest favorite thing to do is to roll over after eating and arch his back as far as he can. He will lay there like that for up to 10 minutes sometimes. He's so flexible; he easily sticks his toes in his mouth now, sometimes both feet (yuck!).

Slobber Daddy
When Roman gets hungry he attacks and eats anything in his way including Daddy's head, and the slobber just flows down Gene's hair and face. Now, you guys remember this a few years from now when Gene will try and blame Roman for his thinning hair. But we all know the truth. : )

Roman, it's for you...
My dad was here last week when Roman started making a deep, gutteral growling type of noise, so my dad would do it back to him and they would go back and forth. Then, a couple of days ater he left, I called him on the phone and put it on speaker. As soon as Roman heard his voice, he started to make the noise. If my dad would talk to me, then Roman would shriek loudly as if he was annoyed that his conversation had been interrupted. Brat...
