Bathtime with Daddy

Roman just LOVES the sound of running water; he likes to splash his hands in it and he really wants to eat it.

6 months old

Six months already and it doesn't feel right to call him a baby anymore, instead I usually say, "my little man" or "little boy." I knew it would go by quickly, but I had no idea how sad it would make me. Luckily, he gets sillier every day and that always makes me smile. He blows strawberries all the time and makes the funniest faces (and seems to know it). He cracks up every time he sees the pets now, especially Jagger. He knows the sign for milk and is saying da-da, but not quite on purpose yet; but, he will look around and look towards the door if you ask, "Where's Daddy?"
He didn't gain much weight this month; probably due to crawling and bouncing around like a maniac and burning all those calories. He's a little over 17 lbs. and so close to 28 inches. The Dr. was once again impressed and called him "precocious" several times, like when he got up on all fours and leaned over and took the Doc's stethoscope away from him. Although he hasn't quite crawled yet, he's sitting up like a champ, with very good posture and babbling like crazy. You can't sneak anything by him anymore. We have to nurse in the bedroom with total silence or it's too distracting. He got a lot of instruction on crawling in NJ from some of the world's best crawling coaches, and he's SO close. Uncle Gary helped him start to move forward instead of backwards with the help of a laser pointer. Now, he's moving forward with a little crawl, a little scoot and an occasional belly flop.

Here are some video highlights from his sixth month.

Roman's 1st trip to NJ

Roman met a lot of family and friends last week. He was surprisingly easy to travel with and REALLY got used to all of the extra people and attention. I was hoping he would crawl last week for everybody, but instead he's decided that he's really good at sitting and he's just going to do that for a while. I think he knows he's tormenting us and he's enjoying it! But, I can wait...

Here he is with Aunt Nancy, Aunt Laurie and Aunt Ginny:

And with Uncle Mike, Uncle Gary and Daddy:

Smooth landing, but Daddy could do better...

Roman was a perfect baby on his first flight. I was really happy because I didn't want to be "that" person with the crying baby. He was so excited to see all the people sitting behind us who had come to visit him; and he was flirting with the girls behind us, of course.
After I opened the window, he just stared outside, mesmerized by the contrast of the white snow on the black tarmac. Or, maybe he was thinking about how he would like to be a pilot when he grows up. His daddy asked the pilots if they still gave out wings, but they don't. That's okay though, daddy has extras.

Life skills

What every man learns eventually: how to take their pants off. Apparently, Roman has figured out that it is really fun to pull at the tabs on his diapers.
I laid him down on his back and starting hanging up some clothes. Seconds later, I turn around and he has undone his diaper and rolled over. So, don't be surprised if you notice duct tape in future pictures. : )

Mr. Popular

Roman had several visitors in the last week. First, Grandma Cozy and Sir Lawrence came to visit and had a lot of fun spoiling him with attention. Then, Auntie Lisa, Uncle Jon and Cousin Kittie came all the way from WA. They never put him down either; so, it's taken him a couple of days to adjust to the fact that every once in a while, I have to put him down; besides, how else will he learn to crawl?

What do you know, the parrot trick works on babies! He fell fast asleep within minutes of being Mobied by Kittie.
